W
hile documenting the Suttles studio archive, Bill Suttles and his son Todd rediscovered this previously unseen figure drawing dating from around 1970.
In this conversation, ninety-five-year-old American painter Bill Suttles studies the drawing for the first time in decades, reflecting on its execution, the memories it evokes, and what still surprises him after more than seventy years as a working artist.
Rather than presenting finished artwork alone, these conversations document the living process of artistic reflection—preserving not only the work itself, but the thoughts of the artist who created it.
