Interior — Pastel on Paper, 12 × 12 inches -Sold
Interior is one of those pieces where my dad slips into a quieter kind of storytelling. It isn’t about a place so much as a moment — someone settled into their own thoughts, surrounded by color, light, and the soft geometry of an everyday room.
I’m always struck by how he handles figures like this. There’s just enough detail to feel the presence of a person, but he leaves the rest open, almost like an invitation to imagine what they’re thinking or waiting for. The warm reds and cool blues play off each other in a way that makes the whole scene feel lived-in and familiar.
As I move through the archive, pieces like Interior remind me how well he can capture stillness without ever letting the painting go quiet.
