On the Verge has always felt to me like my dad capturing a landscape in mid-breath. The whole scene seems to lean forward—the light, the hillside, even the trees—as if the day itself is on the edge of changing. He has such a natural instinct for catching that kind of immediacy, where a place feels alive and in motion without anything actually moving.
I especially love the warmth here: those deep golds and oranges pulling toward the viewer, contrasted with the cooler greens and blues tucked into the shaded slope. It’s a perfect example of how he uses color not just to describe a scene, but to express how it feels to stand there.
Pieces like this remind me how deeply he observes the land around him and how confidently he translates that connection into paint. Even though the original has found its home, the energy of it remains just as vivid in print.
