This little marsh painting is one of those pieces of my dad’s that I’ve kept for myself. There’s something about the way he handled the atmosphere here—the softness of the sky, the shifting light across the grasses, the quiet sweep of the horizon—that feels both simple and deeply assured. He could suggest an entire landscape with just a few confident strokes, letting color and gesture do most of the talking.

What I love most is how calm it feels. No drama, no embellishment—just the honesty of a place observed and understood.
