There is a moment in this painting where the land does not recede—it rises. The horizon is not distant but immediate, held in place by a band of trees that feel both present and dissolving. Treeline begins with structure, but quickly shifts into atmosphere, where color carries more weight than form.

The foreground is expansive, built from fields of orange and yellow that move like heat across the surface. These areas are not fixed—they shift, overlap, and soften at the edges. The fence line suggests direction, but it never fully anchors the space. Instead, it pulls the eye toward the treeline, where darker marks interrupt the brightness and begin to define a boundary.
Above it all, the sky presses down in deep blues and violets, layered with subtle transitions that suggest movement rather than stillness. The trees sit within this tension—neither fully grounded nor entirely abstract. They hold the horizon just enough to keep the painting intact, while everything around them continues to loosen and expand.

An expressive landscape composition centered on a shifting treeline, using bold color fields and gestural marks to explore the balance between structure and atmosphere.
