A Balance of Ink & Color Reveals A Deeply Observed World -a skecth on paper
There’s a rhythm to how my father approached water. *Carolina Inlet* isn’t about the boats or the dock itself — it’s about the stillness between them. His lines guide the eye like the rigging of memory, each angle pulling against color and reflection. This piece reminds me of afternoons where he’d sit quietly, sketching coastal shapes while saying little. Later, in his studio, those same lines would become abstract geometries — but it always began with sketches like this. The coastal light, the balance of ink and color, and the serenity of repetition — all are here in *Carolina Inlet*. It’s one of those quiet studies that reveals how deeply he observed the world.
