Sunny Hill

Sunny Hill — Oil on Panel, 18 × 24 inches - Sold
There’s a calm, steady kind of joy in Sunny Hill — the kind that comes from watching my dad paint a place that simply feels good to him. He has always had a way of letting light spill across a landscape without overthinking it, and this piece is a perfect example of that instinct at work.
The greens shift from cool to warm, the shadows move just enough to give the scene its depth, and the whole hillside feels like it’s breathing under summer sunlight. What I love most is how he lets the brushwork stay loose and alive. Nothing is over-defined, yet everything is clear: the rise of the land, the atmosphere in the distance, the way the trees anchor the edges of the frame.
It’s one of those paintings that feels familiar even if you’ve never stood in this exact spot — a reminder of how good a simple, sunlit hillside can feel.
