Original 8 x 10 inch pastel on paper
This little pastel feels like one of those moments my dad always loved — where the land opens up and color becomes its own kind of weather. Treeline has that mix of bold, unexpected hues and quiet structure that marks so much of his landscape work.
What I enjoy about this one is the way the horizon dissolves into gesture and atmosphere, yet the feeling of place is still unmistakable. The warm fields, the shifting blues, even the faint suggestion of a fence line all create a sense of movement, as if the day itself is turning over.
For me, pieces like this capture the way he sees the world — not literally, but emotionally. They’re small, but they hold a lot.
