Every now and then I come across one of my dad’s pieces that feels less like a scene and more like a moment—something caught in passing, where the atmosphere says as much as the figure itself. Across the Room is one of those.
The loose pastel marks, the unexpected color choices, and the way the light moves around the figure all give this piece a sense of quiet observation. It feels like he was watching someone absorbed in their own world—focused, unaware, and surrounded by the soft rhythm of an interior space.
What I love most is how much story he manages to suggest with so little detail. A chair, a desk, a gesture, and suddenly you’re pulled into a snapshot of everyday life that feels both intimate and universal. It's a reminder of how closely he pays attention to the small, ordinary moments most of us overlook.
