Good Intentions — Acrylic & Mixed Media Collage on Paper, 7.5 x 11 in
Here’s Good Intentions, one of Dad’s smaller mixed-media collages that always makes me smile. Pieces like this remind me how naturally he blends playfulness with structure. You can see him thinking on the page—layering color, pulling shapes forward, and letting unexpected textures collide until the whole thing settles into its own rhythm.
I love how the bold reds and pinks push up against the cooler blues and greens, and then there’s that graphic black-and-white element in the center—almost like a fragment from another idea that found its perfect home here. Dad has a way of letting intuition lead the composition, but somehow it always lands with balance and intention, even when the edges feel spontaneous.
When I catalog works like this, I’m reminded how much of his studio process involved discovery. He didn’t force these pieces; he uncovered them. And Good Intentions is a great example of that—raw, layered, honest, and quietly full of energy.
