Industrial Ember — 12 x 12 inches, Mixed Media with Collage
This is one of those pieces where my dad’s love of texture really takes over. The collage elements spark against the painted surface—almost like bits of machinery or signage catching light inside an old warehouse. When I’m archiving work like this, I’m reminded how naturally he blends structure and improvisation. Nothing is overplanned; it’s all built from instinct, from layering, from responding to whatever the surface gives back.
At 95, he still works this way—curious, playful, completely unafraid to let a painting shift direction mid-stream. Industrial Ember feels like that spirit in visual form: bold, warm, and alive with movement.
