Forcefield
Original 8 x 10.5 inch mixed media on paper
Pieces like Forcefield always remind me how fearless my dad has been with color his entire life. He doesn’t ease into intensity—he goes straight for it, letting those saturated reds, greens, and blacks collide in a way that somehow still feels balanced and intentional.
When I look at this one, I can almost picture him working: quick movements, layered marks, and that sense of letting the painting lead. There’s an energy here that feels both structured and unruly, like something pushing outward from the center.
For me, part of the joy in archiving these works is seeing how alive they still feel. Even decades later, a piece like Forcefield carries the same punch it must have had the day he made it.
